The Nation of Sumir
An ancient land which, in ancient times, was a colony of an empire in the west. Its time as a colony had a great impact on the culture of the region and even now over a thousand years later still shares some common traits with the long since fallen empire. The colonists of the empire bred in some what with the indigenous peoples, but mostly just ruled over them. Around a millennia and a half ago the people rebelled and succeeded in driving out the foreigners. The people spent some time fighting amongst each other but after a little over a century were unified in an Empire whose structure was very similar to that which they had just rebelled against. The city of Coragon was established as the capital as it was the ancestral home of the most populous tribe. The region around Coragon was once a great forest. However around nine hundred years ago the climate shifted dramatically for unknown reasons. The once mighty nation fell to ruin and infighting between warlords became common. However about 500 years ago the mighty warlord Laras conquered and reunited the region. He moved the capital to Cirri, a city on a river by the sea, and the nation prospered.
